If you like walking, there is a footpath through the farm to the Lady's Well at Holystone where there are 3 further circular walks.

In the village of Harbottle you can walk up to the Drake Stone where the views are unbeatable, or to the recently restored ruins of Harbottle Castle. Further up the valley above Alwinton many more walks will take you to the Pennine Way.

Northumberland is steeped in history with many castles and stately homes. Cragside in Rothbury and Wallington Hall near Morpeth are both run by the National Trust.

Alnwick Castle home of the Duke of Northumberland, with the new Millennium Gardens is only 20 miles away, a must for Harry Potter fans.
Bamburgh and Walkworth Castle are both on the most beautiful stretch of coastline in Northumberland.

Woodhall Cottage is in the middle of the National Park cycle routes, and many more popular tracks are further up the valley. A lock up garage is available to store bicycles.

Free fishing is available to guests when in season.

There are many market towns to visit including the famous Farmers market of Alnwick, Morpeth and Hexham.
The local town of Rothbury has good shopping facilities, banks, cafes, takeaways and public houses which serve excellent meals.
